Chicago bracing for more accumulating snow, travel delays
The latest winter storm will begin to spread snow across the Chicago metro area late in the afternoon on Friday before becoming intermittent on Saturday. From 3 to locally 6 inches of snow will fall during the storm. Intermittent snow and flurries are expected to linger through the rest of the weekend. The combination of plunging temperatures from Saturday night to Sunday night will cause wet and slushy areas to freeze. Gusty winds when combined with temperatures dipping into the single digits to below zero degrees Fahrenheit will create a significant risk of frostbite and hypothermia for those not properly dressed. AccuWeather RealFeel(R) Temperatures will plummet to well below zero. The severe cold will persist through at least the middle of the week with daytime highs mainly in the single digits and lows near to a bit below zero.
