AccuWeather.com® Expands Local AccuWeather Channel Affiliates
(State College, PA - April 11, 2008) - AccuWeather, Inc. (www.accuweather.com) announces 65 stations across the country are on air or soon to be on air with The Local AccuWeather Channel service. The channel provides complete program content for linear, IPTV, and Internet television services and is available to only one broadcast station in a market.
The 24/7 turnkey Local AccuWeather Channel presents viewers with continuous local weather content, along with regional and national forecasts, compelling breaking and severe weather news, and engaging magazine-style features. AccuWeather provides the complete array of programming for the channel, including local forecast videos presented by AccuWeather's engaging, nationally-recognized on-air personalities. Stations may choose to instead have their own talents provide local forecast videos, and can also insert live or prerecorded segments with their own weather, news and sports talents, local traffic cameras, and more.
At WDTV-TV in the Bridgeport/Clarksburg, West Virginia market, The Local AccuWeather Channel is helping build ad revenue and achieve increased market ratings, as well as building the station's reputation as the market's leading weather source. WDTV General Manger, Tim DeFazio said, "We have had success based on what we have done [with The Local AccuWeather Channel]. We've exceeded our revenue expectations by 40 percent in 2007."
