VIDEO: Cool Canada Avalanche
Heavy winter storms have cloaked western Canada's mountains with a deep blanket of snow. The last two weeks have brought more than their fair share of new snow along the Selkirk Mountains of eastern British Columbia.
Deep snow on the slopes implies the danger of snowslides through Rogers Pass, where the TransCanada Highway squeezes through the Selkirks in spectacular Glacier National Park.
To limit the threat of major, disastrous snowslides, authorities regularly use special guns to trigger smaller, "controlled" avalanches.
This video was taken during a triggering operation last week.
