YOUR Storm Photos From Yesterday
Here are some of *your* excellent photos of the storms yesterday in the mid-Atlantic; mine will follow this evening when I get a chance to go through the hours of footage that I took yesterday. First, if you haven't checked out Meteo Madness Man (PREMIUM | PRO) pics and video of the storm, please do. He got some excellent footage (and I'll have similar footage of the same storm later today, from a couple miles to the Northeast). Local storm chaser Ron Shawley also took a bunch of lightning and cloud shots and a video which is worth watching if you have a few minutes. If any of the rest of you got any footage of the storms or damage, upload it to the Photo Gallery.
The atmosphere yesterday had enough instability to lead to large thunderstorms which we don't see that often here in the East. As a result, there were some beautiful mammatus clouds present with the fully developed storms. I snapped a pic of these myself very similar to the one that Carl (PREMIUM | PRO) showed on his blog. rws1961 snapped this one in Jerome, PA [Google Map]:
scm617 also got them up in Groton, NY [Google Map]:
As did (aforementioned) Storm Chaser Ron, at sunset nonetheless:
And last but not least, listormchase thinks that he may have gotten a possible funnel cloud on film in New York yesterday:
