Yemen to be Hit Again by Megh, Another Rare Cyclone
I literally can't believe I'm writing this. After Category 3 Cyclone Chapala earlier this week, Cyclone Megh, another Category 3 Hurricane, has affected the island of Socatra and is bound for Yemen!
If you don't believe me, our story (which will have additional information as the storm approaches land) says: "AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Jim Andrews says 'Having two landfalling tropical cyclones in Yemen in a single season is likely to be unheard of in the modern era.'"
Up until this week, only two Category 1 hurricanes had tracked near the island in recorded history. This is our map from this morning, as the storm was over the island:
