Winds in Rockies Gust to 134 MPH
High wind reports were widespread in the Rocky Mountains yesterday, as predicted. Mount Coffin, Wyoming gusted to 134 mph, as the graph below shows.
As you can see by the map below, high wind gust spotter reports were widespread. A list of the highest gusts by state:
Mount Coffin, Wyoming: 134 mph
Logan Pass, Montana: 119 mph
Pinecliffe, Colorado: 102 mph
Schweitzer Mountain, Idaho: 85 mph
Downed trees were reported across the states (video out of Colorado). The high winds closed interstates in Wyoming and tipped semis in Nebraska.
The most interesting spotter report: "COLORADO SPRINGS, CO: CAR WINDSHIELD BROKEN OUT AT CORPORATE CENTER DRIVE AND WOODMEN. THERE WAS A SUDDEN WIND BURST WHICH PELTED THE CAR WITH ROCKS AND SAND."
