Wind Keeps Temperatures Up
Check out the graph above which plots temperature and wind at my house. Notice that as soon as the wind stops, the temperature plummets. Our low temperature was achieved at 2 a.m., when it dipped to 57 under calm winds. Other than that, it was well over 60 the entire night (which is pretty unusual for November here -- the normal (average) low temperature for State College (PREMIUM | PRO) this time of year is about 35.
This graph is from my high-resolution Texas Weather station which measures wind speed and temperature down to the tenth of a degree, in real-time. You could see similar relationships on other instrumentation, and even official hourly observations from the government, but it is much harder to document because of the infrequency of the observations. You can see daily and archived graphs from this weather station here.
