Wind Brings Summer Back
I just stepped outside and it feels like summer, but it's windy as heck. What gives?
We've talked before on this blog about how wind affects temperature, and high winds coming in to our area suddenly this morning caused a huge temperature jump here in Central Pennsylvania.
Check if you will the graph of temperature and wind speed at my house this morning, shown above. When that southerly wind kicked up at 9:05, the temperature skyrocketed 16 degrees from 37 to 53 in just over 10 minutes, then continued on up to hit 59 at 11 a.m. before falling as the wind shifted. Almost reaching 60 is pretty good for early January -- our normal high temperature today is 33.
