Wilmington News: Save Pets This Time
More hurricane-related news today from my old stomping grounds, southeast North Carolina. An article in the Wilmington Star News newspaper urges residents of southeastern North Carolina to not make the same mistakes with pets that were made during hurricane evacuations for Katrina. It is estimated that over 600,000 pets perished in the storm. The article tells of a law passed in North Carolina which requires the state to consider the welfare of pets and service animals in evacuation plans.
