Widespread flooding for mid-Atlantic with unusual July storm
Rain in July in the mid-Atlantic typically lasts for an hour or two, unless it's a tropical storm... but Friday and Saturday will drop heavy rain for as much as 12 hours in a row at some locations, which will cause major flooding. Our story about the storm has additional information.
Meanwhile, on the coast, the effects will be similar to a nor'easter, with high winds, coastal flooding and beach erosion:
Already today, flooding and water rescues have taken place in Washington, D.C., where over 2 and a half inches of rain fell:
Latrobe, Pennsylvania, is also currently under a flood warning.
Models have varied greatly as to where the most rain will fall, so it's hard to prepare a certain city or county for what will come this weekend, but I believe you'll see videos of flooding rescues from southern Pennsylvania and northern Maryland by Saturday morning.
