West Steals Winter For Xmas?
It really looks like it's going to be a much quieter week as we approach Christmas in the East. The jetstream will keep storms away from the Northeast through mid-week. The one storm that does make it to New England by late Christmas day was predicted by the GFS and DGEX models to be snow only in northern New England, as of this morning. This afternoon the GFS was indicating possible snow through Ohio and Pennsylvania on the back of the storm.

Right now, enough snow remains over much of the northern half of the country to make for a white Christmas. But with temperatures expected to rise into the 30's and 40's in many of those areas this week, a good bit of it will melt. That said, the weather is subject to change. More information will be available in our Weather Headlines (PREMIUM | PRO) and Breaking Weather News Page throughout the week.
Meanwhile the West is getting pummelled with heavy rain in California plus heavy snow at high elevations.

On Monday, snow and ice will be a big problem in the mountains of Washington and Oregon.
