Wenatchee Winds Worst in 30 Yr.
A blog reader from Wenatchee, in central Washington State [Google Maps] wrote in yesterday to question why I didn't include the wind gust from the nearby Mission Ridge [shown as "A" below] weather station.
The answer is that the station had sporadic data and its accuracy was in question. After considering the damage this reader told me about, I have added their 137 mph gust to the list of high winds that I posted yesterday. I also made a couple of minor additions to that list; as a rule, higher winds did not happen after I published that entry yesterday.
She also offered a link to his local newspaper which has some impressive photos and video of this week's high wind event. An earlier article from the Apple Capital of the World's paper said power was cut to 19,000 people in Chelan county alone. The local Sheriff said it was the worst windstorm there in 30 years.
