Weekend Outbreak Could Trump Thur.
We're at it again, folks. After a brief respite from Moderate Risks Friday, the government's Storm Prediction Center has issued a Moderate Risk for Arkansas and the Arklatex today, and a rare "Day-2" Moderate Risk for a wide area of the Tennessee Valley on Sunday. As I predicted earlier this week, today's outbreak will probably be as bad or worse than Thursday's. Probably worse because more supercells and tornadoes are predicted today, versus the squall line which caused widespread (but not tornadic) damage Thursday. Here are specifics from the NWS:
Early this morning, one supercell had already developed north of Fort Worth, Texas, dropping 1" diameter hail and over 800 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes, according to AccuWeather.com RadarPlus:
