The thunderstorms left over from last night's outbreak are still going strong over the Southern Appalachians. Over 175 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued since midnight (source: StormMatrix)

2-Hour Lightning Strikes 6:30-8:30 a.m. Eastern

Over 30,000 lightning strikes were detected in two hours on the Nashville, Tennessee radar coverage area alone. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch and half a dozen warnings were in effect.

Storms will continue to erupt in the Southeast through late-week.
