Weather for a Historic Election Day
It's 12:30 PM on Monday, November 3rd. By this time tomorrow people will be electing the new President of these United States, and by the next day (hopefully) we'll know the results. I am proud to be a part of this historic election (marked as such by not only Barack Obama himself, but record early voting turnout, the lack of an incumbent, etc.). I didn't start blogging until 2005 (though technically I've been blogging my whole life), so I missed the last Presidential election. Below is a map showing our predicted weather conditions tomorrow.
If you look at the RealClearPolitics.com Electoral map,* they show the following states as "unclaimed": Montana (3 Electoral), Arizona (10), North Dakota (3), Missouri (11), Indiana (11), Ohio (20), Virginia (13), North Carolina (15), Georgia (15), and Florida (27).
Of those, the most crucial are Florida, Ohio, Georgia, and North Carolina, because they have the most electoral votes. Of those, our weather map shows only North Carolina will experience significant weather tomorrow, as a coastal low pressure system spreads rain over the eastern part of the state. As such, the Democrats will probably benefit, as they normally do during fair weather (according to our Breaking Weather News Page (PREMIUM | PRO) story on the topic).
If you'd like to change the Electoral map yourself, check out the widget below (CNN Poll is the default, click on a state to change the outcome or pick another poll from the dropdown menu).
*If you've never used RealClearPolitics.com, they are an excellent choice for political polls, because they cut through the inaccuracy in your typical poll by averaging all non-partisan polls. Be sure to check out their latest Poll graph, in addition to the Electoral Map that I linked to above.
