Video, Aerials From Illinois Tornado
Last night I produced a breaking-news video showing radar from a supercell thunderstorm that spawned a tornado causing dozens of tornado reports leading up to southern Chicago and Gary, Indiana. Today you can see the actual tornado (courtesy ABC Stringers) and aerial shots of the damage that it caused (courtesy WLS):

VIDEO SCRIPTS: Severe storms in Illinois spawned tornadoes in the Chicago area Saturday (6-7) that left a lot of damage behind. In Green Garden Township, five miles south of Frankfort [Google Map], a twister was caught on tape. Witnesses say it kept lifting off the ground, and descending in different formations. At one point it was pencil thin; at others, it was a half-mile wide. Authorities say the tornado made its way to the southern suburbs, toppling power lines and trees and damaging homes and businesses.
Chicago-area residents are taking stock and cleaning up Sunday (6-8) morning after severe storms in Illinois spawned tornadoes Saturday (6-7). In Richton Park [Google Map], the twister toppled power lines, setting some electric transformers on fire and leaving many in the dark. A number of buildings were damaged, some losing part of their brick siding. Authorities say the tornado was slow moving and was on the ground for some time. Today, they are still assessing the damage.
