Unique Wx Makes for Interesting Cloud Photos
We had some unique weather yesterday here in State College, Pennsylvania, home of AccuWeather HQ [Google Map]: Tiny convective showers popped up across the state, attempting to rain but being thwarted by dry air at the surface. The result: Interesting cloud formations. Unfortunately I was stuck in meetings all day, but my webcams snapped pictures which I uploaded to our Photo Gallery.
The photos included several of a funnel-like appendage that moved over the AccuWeather building. In the webcam shot below, I have enhanced the contrast to bring the feature out. It probably was the result of normal eddies that you might find in the clouds, rather than being related to the tiny storm, but you never know.
