U.K. Flooding, Storm Chasing in South America
A couple readers asked why I didn't cover the flooding in the United Kingdom... I have been covering them by posting links via Twitter to J's Breaking Weather News at right but I haven't written a blog entry because the media and AccuWeather.com seem to be doing a good job of covering them. A number of bridges have collapsed during the historic floods; the entire country has broken it's all-time 24-hour rainfall record, and unfortunately, the rain will continue this week.
Here are some links to information on the United Kingdom floods:

Mark Vogan's blog is also a great place to find out more information. Mark is a weather enthusiast from Scotland who came to AccuWeather HQ for a tour earlier this year.
On the other side of the world south of the Equator, an update to a blog that I did on Saturday. The extreme severe weather in South America has caught the attention of Discovery Channel's "Storm Chasers'" Reed Timmer (who will be chasing storms there later this season). He has done two blog entries, here and here, showing radar images from the storms last week. Reed says it's likely the severe weather will get worse when he's down there:
Below is our South America Summer forecast, which doesn't specifically address Severe Weather but positions the jet stream as Reed had noted above.
