TV - The WeatherMan, Cat 7, Blooper
There seemed to be a plethora of weather-related movie & television news this weekend so I thought I'd summarize it.
CANOE BLOOPER
First, if you haven't seen the video of the reporter faking being in deep floodwaters in a canoe, it is a riot. You can download/view the Windows Media format here. Basically she appears to be in deep floodwaters canoeing around during the shot, when two men's legs walk in front of her, revealing the fake shot. (This was during the Northeast Flooding in mid-October).
CATEGORY 10: THE END OF CHEESY WEATHER MOVIES
Next, any of you who saw Category 6: Day of Destruction last year probably wished you hadn't been forced through it.
It was a cheesy meteorological mayhem and got a 4.6 on IMDB, which doesn't put it near Crossroads, but it's not far off. (Related Link: Category 6 Thread on WeatherMatrix Forums). Alas, that wasn't the end of the series apparently, and CBS proudly announced last week Category 7: The End of the World. Randy Quaid, who I was pretty sure got Jonas'd in Cat 6, is back again. Will I watch it? Sadly, probably so.
DESPITE ALL MY RAGE, I'M STILL JUST NICHOLAS CAGE
In other news, Nicholas Cage's "The WeatherMan" premiered on Friday and I have not yet seen it. Since it's really more of a career-vs-family drama/comedy than a strictly weather-related movie (put away your Groundhog Day paraphernalia, I saw you get it out), I will probably wait for it to come out on tape. Somebody was excited -- it started out as an 8.4 on IMDB but had fallen to a 7.7 as of this writing (which is still pretty good). To quote IMDB:
You can check out the trailers on their site.
A VIRTUAL WEATHERCASTER: IT'S BEEN DONE BEFORE
And finally, this site claims to have created the first virtual weatherman. AccuWeather did that too, last year. Anyone for Ananova? I fell in love with her five years ago.
