Tussey Mountain, PA Fire Photos
While I was offline moving into my new house, I missed taking photos of the largest fire in this county in a decade (according to the CDT). 437 acres burned. I certainly saw (and smelled) the smoke when it drifted over State College, PA, Monday afternoon. We have been experiencing drought conditions for more than a year now.
Below are photos taken by AccuWeather's Elliot Abrams (PREMIUM | PRO) and Vern Horst (thanks guys!). CentreDaily.com has a slideshow with more photos, and photos of the actual fire.

It reminded me of April 1984 (?) living in mom's house in the woods of North Carolina. There were too many trees to tell how close the fires were, but we experienced many smoky days, some of which featured ashes falling from the sky. I remember my father looking warily (and wearily) out the window trying to judge how close the flames were.
Another fire popped up in Julian, PA (on the other side of the county) today.
