Tropical Storm Southwest of SPAIN?
Only in this record-breaking and bizarre season could this happen... the government's National Hurricane Center has declared a tropical storm to the southwest of Spain and Portugal, and it is moving northeast. This is the furthest northeast in the Atlantic that I ever recall a storm being declared.
This means that 1995's record for "named" storms has been broken, if you don't count 1933, which had 21 storms (but they didn't name them back then). See this page for a lengthier explanation.
