ORIGINAL POST:
If you've looked at the potential Tropical Storm today on satellite, you've probably thought "that's awful far south." It's true, and if the storm hits the southern, larger island iof Trinidad and Tobago, it will be one of only five storms since 1850 to make landfall there (three also moved through South America afterward), according to NOAA's GIS system.
These included a hurricane in 1933 and four Tropical Storms, most recently Bret in 1993. An additional hurricane in 1878 made a close pass just off the Northeast coast. Most computer models say that it won't make landfall there, but will pass just to the north of the island.
Here's our official prediction. For more about the effects the storm will have on the Caribbean, as well as two other tropical areas of interest, check our news story.
