Tornado Outbreak Storm Surveys So Far
The following storm surveys have been completed by The NWS [JessePedia] for reported tornadoes from this outbreak. Many more are to come, I'm sure. Below are images of the Caufield, Missouri tornado and the damage it wreaked. The NWS survey said it was 15 miles long, but that's not the worst report yet... see below.
NWS - Peachtree City, GA (Atlanta)
(EF-1/EF-2/EF-3/EF-2/EF-3/EF-1/EF-2/EF-0)
NWS - Birmingham, AL
(EF-1/EF-1/EF-1/EF-0/EF-1/EF-0)
NWS - Paducah, KY
NWS- Jackson, MS
(EF-1)
NWS - Springfield, MO
(EF-3)
The "EF" ratings refer to the new Enhanced Fujita Tornado Scale, which is being used for the first time this year.
The most impressive report so far might be this one out of Georgia:
Think about a 1-mile wide tornado. If that were to occur here in State College, PA, it would cover the entire downtown area, or half of Mount Nittany [Google Maps].
