Thermal Video Drone? Black Friday Weather Tech Deals
And here's one more for Cyber Monday! Use the code CYBER20 to save 20% on great gear for whatever the forecast says, from the AccuWeather Store. Monday only!
Here are a few futuristic weather-related gadget deals I've seen this week in Black Friday deals:
NetAtmo has their weather station on sale for an incredible $111 for Black Friday -- this might be the most incredible deal I've seen this season. This station started out at $279 and it was worth it then. It measures unusual sensor data like air quality and sound and produces beautiful graphs in the cloud (see my current graphs here).
AcuRite has their full-featured weather station (with wind and rain) for only $99 today, along with other deals. I have a network of these stations running around central Pennsylvania. Thanks to the continuing fall of the price of electronics, this low-price leader has stations that can compete with the more expensive versions.
If you already have a GoPro and have the ($1,300 of) money, the professional-grade Solo quadcopter from 3DR with a gimbal is $100 off today. I'm currently testing the older IRIS model from 3DR and have found it much steadier and extensible than the Phantom quadcopter I tested several years ago.
By the way, did you know you can do Thermal UAS videography from a drone? With a $3000 FLIR quadcopter camera, you can... but you could also probably duct tape a FLIR One (their cheapest, phone-compatible thermal camera) and your iPhone 5 to a drone (if you're a gambler) for only $149 today (smaller iPhone6 and Android versions are standard price of $249). I have played around with the original FLIR One and it is just a super fun gadget, whether you're an engineer, meteorologist, or ghost hunter (I might be all three!).
FLIR also has $50 off their FLIR FX home monitoring camera, which does some bizarre stuff, such as automatically merging multiple shots of video captures (see below, wow, futuristic!):
FLIR's company Lorex, which specializes in home security cameras, has a few other good deals. Happy Shopping!
