The New AccuWeather.com App for Android Devices
About a year ago, I got my first smartphone, a Motorola Droid, and did a quick review of our weather app there. We now have a brand new, updated weather app that is much better. One big advantage is that you can share screenshots on Facebook (or Twitter, email, etc.).
Above is one of the radar shots I shared yesterday as storms were ripping through Wilmington, Delaware. This is a huge upgrade to the radar, it's now interactive, street level, and loopable (if that's a word). You can also screen capture the forecast or current conditions. WeatherAlarms are available, which tell you when inclement weather is coming based on our forecast, and National Weather Service alerts.
And of course there are many other great features, including video (finally, now my phone is *really* smart) and a display of the temperature in the task bar at the top of the Droid. The official Press Release is available with more information. Here's the best part - if you had our old application (yeah, the blue one), you can just update it on the phone to see this completely redone upgrade (if you don't, search Market for "AccuWeather" or read more here. Let me know if you have any questions. This is a brand new app, so there may be a bug or two.
