The Latest East Coast Storm Hype
This is going to be a really difficult forecast, folks. A frontal system and upper-level trough are coming in just as this potential tropical storm forms off the Carolina coast. How far inland, it at all, it ends up causing trouble remains to be seen. The latest Model Spread wants to take it off the coast... the NMM says "no" to a Hatteras hit but yes to Cape Cod:
The DGEX doesn't start until Hour 84 so we don't know what it thinks, except that a strong Tropical Storm makes landfall in Georgia next Tuesday if you can believe that!
The GFS takes an even weaker storm up the entire East Coast... the Canadian (CMC), (which had a really scary scenario this time last night where a strong storm did a 180 and moved straight west across North Carolina) agrees with the NMM this afternoon. The WaveWatch model keeps the high waves well offshore.
