The Great Global Warming Swindle
Hey, it's just the name of a film! Seriously though, I try to keep these posts to a minimum because I haven't solidified an opinion on the topic (unlike most people) and because we have a blogger who specializes in Global Warming and climate change, and in fact a whole Global Warming Center.
But I will say THIS: Many people have made up their minds without seeing or hearing all the evidence. If you've seen Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" then you should take the time to watch "The Great Global Warming Swindle," a documentary by Channel 4 in Britain. To quote their site:
Unlike Al Gore, Channel 4 doesn't have the promotional sense to get the word out. The video only aired once, in the United Kingdom, on March 8, 2007. Several of you have written to me to ask my opinion of it, and I finally got to watch it today. It comes and goes, but you can try to find it on Google Video, or YouTube to watch.
Although I try not to form opinions here, I will say that this movie has blown the entire debate open again, or should. The first half is science-related and intriguing. The second half makes an attempt to explain, through British politics, how Global Warming came to be a political issue. I'm not much of a political pundit so I can't judge that part of the documentary. But I've made sure that our Global Warming blogger has seen it, and I've urged her to write an entry about it.
Of course, even if human-induced Global Warming, or Global Warming itself turns out to be bogus, there's still reasons to protect the environment from man-made damage, I personally believe. It won't be as easy of a battle to fight without a large issue such as Global Warming behind us.
