The Flying Pig and Tropical Storm Chantal
The NHC [JessePedia] has declared Tropical Storm Chantal off the northeast coast of the U.S. this morning, after declaring Tropical Depression Three last night. The storm looks good on satellite, but will not affect the U.S. While I'm proud to have been on the North Carolina coast when a Tropical Storm formed just to my northeast, it won't give me any good photos this year.
Speaking of photos... I'm uploading a "boat load" to the AccuWeather.com Weather Photo Gallery this morning and I'll do a video blog later showcasing them. I've snapped some great scenery and storm pics. Meanwhile you can check some of them out by looking at my latest 5 pics below (these will update later this morning as I upload more; click here to see ALL Beach 2007 Trip photos.

I found another place with free WIFI internet access that is actually ON Oak Island. It's an amateur coffeehouse called The Flying Pig. While it doesn't have the clean, cool city atmosphere of Port City Java, where I am once again this morning, it's a lot closer to Long Beach than Southport.
TUESDAY MORNING LESS CROWDED AT THE PORT
It's funny the different types of people that you see at these Internet-enabled coffeeshops. Sunday afternoon when I went to The Pig, it was chock full of surfer kids and only one other person on the computer. But yesterday (Monday) morning, it was crowded with businessmen (and women) from 8 to 10:30, desperately trying to connect their laptops. Sunday morning at Port City Java was mostly older, gossipy locals and today is too, but less of them (some have jobs). I managed to get here to Port before 8:00 this morning and was surprised by the number of people out and about on the island at 7:30. Now at 9 AM, the Port City Java "Bored Room" (from which I write) is almost empty of patrons as most folks are at work.
