The Big MN Warm-Up: 75 Degrees in 31 Hours
Residents of Minnesota saw a huge warm-up yesterday - temperatures were in the 40s Saturday afternoon after being well below zero Friday morning. The NWS says that Minneapolis tied their record high of 46 and the Climate Office says that unfortunately negated the chance to have a January completely below the freezing mark, which has only happened thrice on record.
The largest difference in temperature I could find was at KFOZ (Bigfork, MN). The data shows a rise of from -29 at 7:13 local time Friday to +46 F at 14:30 yesterday (Saturday). That's a rise of 75 degrees in a 31 hour period! That almost makes Alaska's 100-degree jump in a week last month seem quaint. Here's a graph:
