The Awesome 40-Hour Lake-Effect Snow Radar
We talked last week about the amazing lake-effect snow event that left parts of New York state buried in nearly 4 feet of snow. Well, it took me a while, but I finally compiled a 40-hour radar loop from last weekend near Watertown, NY (and that didn't even cover the entire event!) Check it out, it's fascinating to imagine the small shifts in wind direction that allowed for the band of snow to snake around like that. You can download a larger "AVI" version here; thanks to Plymouth State's radar archive for the images.
