That`s A Wide Rain Shield
I've been impressed by the sheer size of the rain shield associated with this week's storm. Here's a shot from overnight; click here to see an animation of the radar map for the last two days, showing the storm's formation and progression across the Eastern United States.

Looking at the local radar for here in Central PA this morning, it's clear that it's going to be raining for a while! It's pretty rare to have the entire radar covered with precipitation.

Because the rain extends so far in all directions, it's possible that the NEXRAD Doppler Estimated Precipitation Maps (PREMIUM | PRO) today could be reading too low. Rain this widespread is typically featured with a tropical system.
