CAPTION:While many New Mexicans enjoyed their Thanksgiving dinners, snow started blanketing the state. Drivers Friday (11/23) morning faced icy conditions. At least six accidents east of Albuquerque halted traffic for nearly two hours overnight on Interstate 40. Dispatchers said the snowstorm that came into Santa Fe was what they had expected and prepared for. Good news for those crews battling the Ojo Peak Fire near Mountainair, New Mexico. The 75-hundred-acre wildfire is about 50 percent contained and there's a chance for a few inches of more snow in the mountains.
Speaking of fires... the Santa Anas are active again in Southern California. As of this writing 35 Malibu homes have been destroyed since the fire started overnight. The video below (no audio) shows aerial views of the homes burning and is from our affliate KABC.

CAPTION:Homes are burning to the ground in the hills above Malibu today as a wildfire fueled by dry Santa Ana winds ripped through heavy brush along canyon ridges. Over 400 acres of land are on fire. The fire started around 3:30 a.m. Saturday (11-24) morning on state park land in an area near Malibu Lake. Roughly 100 homes in three separate communities were evacuated. Gusts of wind up to 60 miles an hour were reported in some mountain passes overnight. Winds are blowing the blaze downhill toward the Pacific Ocean. About 300 firefighters are on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
