Spring Break Starts With Snow, Ice
My daughter's Spring Break was scheduled to start tomorrow, Friday March 3rd. But it began today when classes were cancelled here in State College, PA when this latest winter storm spread ice into our area.
I'm still recovering from the Flu but I'm going to try to snap a couple of photos of the ice, which is pretty impressive by Central PA standards.
Snow has been falling on the northern fringe of the storm. Here are the highest amounts reported per state as of 4 p.m.:
BAINBRIDGE, NY: 7.0"
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA: 4.0"
WANTAGE, NJ: 3.2"
BRIDGEPORT, CT: 2.0"
This reminds me of a time not so long ago when I was heading home from college for Spring Break 1993, on the edge of the Storm of the Century. It started snowing on the drive home, and I wasn't sure I'd make it. The next morning we had 25" on the ground where I was (see photo below), and some students were stuck at UNCA until military vehicles broke through days later.
