Southern Christmas Storm Model Hype?
Some Forecast Model [JessePedia] hype on the Christmas storm... the DGEX has a beautiful winter storm developing on Christmas Day for some of us... starting out with heavy snow in eastern Arkansas and northwest Mississippi (if you can believe that) Christmas morning...
...then moving that storm system northeast through New England, leaving the populous areas snow-free but again giving those of us here in Central Pennsylvania a shot at heavy snow Christmas night...
But before you get too excited, the GFS, normally the big hypester of cold and snow (and the DGEX's second cousin) starts the storm off looking similar but slightly westward... then weakens it as the last of the light precipitation moves through the Ohio Valley Christmas night. That is, of course, the overnight Weird Runs [JessePedia]... the previous (00Z) run last night showed the storm exiting the coast after giving Virginia some snow. Yesterday morning's run was a solution in-between but leaving some snow in Tennessee, as you probably saw on the Daily GFS White Christmas Maps (the latest images are below):
