South Snow Totals; Big Waves & Winds VA Coast
This morning, the storm that dropped impressive snow totals in the South (see list below) is spinning off the mid-Atlantic coast this morning and could cause coastal flooding concerns with stiff winds and high waves.
The biggest "fetch" (highlighted above) is east of Virginia Beach right now, and the buoy there (located approximately at the "x") is showing waves nearly 18 feet and winds nearly 50 knots. The wind direction is parallel to the Outer Banks so the webcams there aren't showing much of interest.
Here are the highest snow totals by state from NWS spotters:
Scaly Mountain, NC: 11.3" Suches, GA: 9.0" Chattanooga, TN: 7.0" Fancy Gap, VA: 6.5" Collinsbille, AL: 5.0" Jenkins, KY: 3.0"
