Snowstorm Update and Webcams
Snowstorm Update (12 p.m.) - Will be updated again this afternoon.
Here are some snowfall reports so far (over 5" shown):
Redhouse, MD: 8 inches
Oakland, MD, Laurel Mountain, PA, Frostburg, MD, and Cherry Grove, WV: 6 inches
Snow has fallen as far south as North Carolina, per the Wolf Laurel Resort website and the Mount Mitchell, North Carolina webcam.
Here at AccuWeather HQ, everything is white but we probably have just over an inch on the ground (see cam). A report on the SnowMatrix says that 4.5" have fallen in Philipsburg, PA, which is in the western part of our county.
Heavy snow before the leaves are gone means downed trees and power lines. Trees are down in many parts of these areas, and in fact the power is blinking here at AccuWeather HQ as I write this. If you have broadband, check out this webcam animation and watch the bushes in my yard get decimated. The last frame of the animation was the last shot I got from the webcam -- after that, the power went out.
