Snow Falls Overnight in N. Carolina
UPDATE 7 a.m. EASTERN: Melt-o-rama.Webcams show almost no snow left on the ground after sunrise.
As the GFS model predicted, some snow fell last night in North Carolina and Virginia.
Here's a radar shot:
Overnight, Raleigh, Fayetteville, Burlington, and Oxford, NC reported light snow on the official government observations. Lexington, NC and Suffolk, VA also reported "Unknown Precip" which is usually sleet or snow.
Here is a map of 4 a.m. temperatures across the state.
No official reports of amounts have been transmitted yet by the government. Temperatures were above freezing so the snow didn't appear to be sticking to roads, but was to grassy areas. The images below are from the High Point DOT and NCDOT in Durham. We'll see better when the sunrises on the North Carolina Webcams.
