Snow Amounts, Latest Snow Ever
The NWS reports this morning that the "Latest Snowfall" record at Harrisburg [Google Map] still stands:
Here in State College, we ended up with a tenth or two, it's hard to tell. I still consider it "unmeasurable." As you can see from my webcam, the sidewalks (and untreated roads) turned white but it wasn't enough to whiten up the grass or trees:
Elsewhere in Pennsylvania, blog reader James in Denver, PA [Google Map], who has maintained weather records since 1943, says this winter is record breaking -- the latest date for more than a tenth of an inch of snow at his station was January 16, 2005 and 1992. Yesterday's snow only totaled 0.1" for him.
The following snow spotter reports have been issued for this storm. While most areas got less than 3 inches, some localities in northern Pennsylvania received 5 to 10 inches. It is possible some of this was lake-effect related.
CHANDLERS VALLEY, PA: 10.0"
FROSTBURG, MD: 3.0"
ASHBURN, VA: 2.9"
KEYSER, WV: 2.8"
CAPE MAY, NJ: 1.7"
NEW CASTLE, DE: 0.3"
