Slow Storms Cause Heavy Rain in Eastern NC

Heavy thunderstorms are sitting over some areas in eastern North Carolina this afternoon, dropping nearly 5 inches of rain per hour (fortunately, they have only been sitting over the same areas for about an hour, so storm totals are similar. Amazingly, there are no Flood advisories currently in effect (3 PM Eastern). Here are some screenshots of the storm from AccuWeather.com RadarPlus:
There is also a lot of interesting ground clutter to the southwest of the storms and over the ocean. A satellite overlay shows that it is not weather-related. Could be insects, ocean spray or chaff from military aircraft. I'll upload a loop of this in a little bit.
