SL: NOAA Offers 3-D Weather
NOAA [JessePedia] has given a sneak peak of their latest foray into Second Life [JessePedia] by releasing a screen capture of their U.S. 3-D Current Conditions Weather Map. The map uses METAR data to update every 8 minutes.
NOAA set up shop in Second Life in August, offering a less robust temperature map and educational modules involving a submarine, hurricane hunter airplane, and a tsunami.

It's worth stating here that some people argue that this type of activity does not serve NOAA's taxpayer funded mission.
