Sinkhole Kills Man in California
The news was abuzz this weekend with a story of a sinkhole which killed a man when it swallowed his apartment in Alta, California Friday night.
The community has mines beneath it, but people are asking if the heavy rains might have made things worse, and it's certainly possible. As you know, California has been in the news recently because of the heavy rain there. The map below (Alta is at the "X", click to enlarge & show key) shows about 100 inches of rain in the past 6 months (over 150% of normal).
