RP: NE Storm Makes Landfall, Details
Last update 10 A.M. I'll publish an update this afternoon. Wind, rain and snowfall lists have been added below. The Nor'easter is making landfall on Long Island this Monday morning. Here's what we know so far:
- 150,000 are without power in the Northeast
- New York City (Central Park) has set a new 24-hour rainfall record with 7.45 inches in the last 24 hours... the second highest daily rainfall ever for that location since records have been kept.
- Huge waves (15 feet observed onshore and more than 20 feet reported offshore) are hitting the coast of Massachusetts.
- New Jersey has declared a State of Emergency with dozens of roads closed.
- Heavy snow has fallen over New England.
- Pressure at landfall was near 968 mb, equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane
- 9-foot seawall crest in Norwalk, Conn. (blog reader)
