Record Broken: Tropical Storm Alpha

With the formation of Tropical Storm Alpha on this Saturday, we have now had 22 named storms in the Atlantic Basin, surpassing records kept for the last 150 years. This comes on the heels of another record broken -- the strongest hurricane ever in the Atlantic basin.
The former record for tropical storms / hurricanes in one season was 21, set in 1933.
Tropical Storm Alpha formed from Tropical Depression #25, which formed this morning southwest of Hispaniolia.
