Recent Storm: Record Precip Records
I noticed something interesting in the WeatherMatrix Weather Records website data last week (this site tallies the number of record weather reports issued by the NWS for official climatic stations). The number of records reported by the NWS for rain (liquid precip) and snow were nearly the highest recorded since WeatherMatrix records began on 8/25/2004. Below is a graph of rain (green) and snow (cyan) records during the last year.

10/8/2005: 34
9/29/2004: 32
3/2/2007: 32 (2nd Place)
10/12/2006: 23
10/13/2006: 17
12/9/2005: 17
2/26/2007: 16 (3rd Place)
2/25/2007: 16 (3rd Place)
