Recent Lightning Damage Photos/Videos
There have been a couple of recent examples in the news of how lightning can cause a lot of damage to buildings, roads and planes. First, this article has a photo of the side of a cemetery building (presumably) ripped apart by lightning in Belmont, New Hampshire over the weekend.

This video also purports to show what happens when lightning strikes an asphalt road in Florida on June 27th (fast forward about 35 seconds through):
And in Helena, Montana Monday (or Sunday?) this article talks about a lightning strike that severely damaged a home (click on the video to see details). A description of the event:
Last but not least, there was also this great photo of lightning damage to a plane's nose in June in Canada (lightning routinely strikes planes but rarely leaves damage).
These stories are more along the lines of the one I always tell from 1987 when lightning caused severe damage to my home in North Carolina, which I'll be talking more about at the end of the month during my vacation blogs (pics & story below).
