Possible Coastal Storm For NC, VA
The meteorological community was abuzz yesterday with talk of a possible coastal storm this weekend. But today, there's a potential letdown as some Forecast Models [JessePedia] change their tune.
Joe Bastardi said on yesterday's edition of the Point-CounterPoint streaming video (available exclusively on Premium and Pro):
"I'm really hyped up on this potential storm for this weekend; I think we've got a potential real problem for that situation. 50 mph and 20-25-foot waves may be seen Saturday and Sunday on our coastline."
But today the European (ECMWF) model, which led the charge on this storm, has moved the prediction of the storm out to sea, and the GFS loops the storm around, causing ripples of uncertainty amongst the forecasters.
Still Joe says in his blog this morning:
Elliot Abrams (PREMIUM | PRO) says in this morning's blog: "If I expressed confidence in the clearing [skies] scenario [for NC/VA this weekend] right now, it would almost justify throwing me out to the wolves." (at which point he added "in the backyard" and pasted in a photo showing his dog pasted multiple times on a photo of his backyard).
Should it develop, coastal residents of southeast Virginia, northeast North Carolina and southeastern Maryland could expect high waves, coastal flooding, over 4 inches of rain and 50 mph winds.
