The following are snowfall reports from this week's complex winter storm system, which continues to spin off snow and ice in the Plains. Below is a picture of what the storm looks like this morning, courtesy our Pro site. Take a look at the 4-day radar animation that I put together to see the storm's movement.
Officially Denver, Colorado only got 7 inches of snow but up to 10.3" was reported in the outskirts of the city. Some local residents reading my blog believe that means the storm was overhyped due to the intensity of last week's storm, which brought over 20 inches to Denver and was (the mayor says) one of only 4 winter storms that brought that much snow (not including October and March) in the last 40 years (Fox News).
In Albequerque, New Mexico, they got 11.3" of snow on Friday, breaking their all-time 24-hour snowfall record. That brought their monthly total to 20.8", less than 3 inches away from their all-time December record set in 1959.
A couple takes their dog for an evening romp in the snow in Denver, Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006. By Thursday evening, 8 inches of snow had been recorded in the Denver area, and snow falling at a rate of 4 inches an hour piled up nearly two feet in the foothills west of the city. (AP Photo/Bill Ross)
