Photos of L.I. Sound Waterspout
A waterspout was sighted on Long Island Sound Wednesday, and captured by a security cam at a Bridgeport, Connecticut marina.
NBC-5 has an article with photos and video. From those, it looked to be a fairly large and impressive waterspout. The official NWS spotter report reads:
"0100 PM PORT JEFFERSON (SUFFOLK): WATERSPOUT REPORTED BY BRIDGEPORT-PORT JEFFERSON FERRY PERSONNEL, VALIDATED FURTHER BY DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS OVER LONG ISLAND SOUND JUST NORTHEAST OF BELLE TERRE."
It wasn't much to see on radar (courtesy Plymouth State), but that's just proof that it doesn't take severe conditions form a waterspout (because of the low friction on water).
