Photogenic Snow Showers in Pennsylvania
I got a couple pictures of a snow shower (rain at the ground) which passed just west of AccuWeather HQ yesterday, and I did a short timelapse on the AccuCam which was kind of cool (see below or high-res on YouTube).
You can see the snow (virga) streaming down from the cloud as it moves southeast. The tiny storm was visible on radar:
I thought all this was pretty neat until I saw these photos from Shadow in Big Run, PA (near Punxsutawney)!
I was thinking because of those fast-moving, cellular showers, it would be a good day for a rainbow (as I've blogged before, you can't see rainbows mid-day and winter makes for less viewing time so you have to get lucky). And with the virga coming down and great visibility, Shadow got some incredible pics. I believe her pictures were taken just after this shower passed through at 4:00:
