Phoenix Ends 144-Day Drought
Phoenix, Arizona officially reported (PREMIUM | PRO) rain this morning at 6 a.m. EST, and it hasn't stopped as of 11 a.m. Over 1/2" of rain has fallen already. This is the first rainfall in Phoenix in 144 days.
AccuWeather.com meteorologist and western expert Ken Clark (PREMIUM | PRO): The end is in sight for the streak of consecutive days with no measurable rainfall in Phoenix. That streak could end before midnight tonight but certainly will end Saturday as showers are likely and it may even thunderstorm. Also, snow starved Flagstaff has picked up several inches of snow today but is likely to pick up 8 to 15 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow with up to two feet in the higher mountains.
AccuPOP(tm), AccuWeather's proprietary precipitation probability product (say that 5 times fast!) on AccuWeather.com Premium shows a decent chance of rain through Sunday night in Phoenix:
